____________________________________________________12 basic principles of animation
These are examples i have created.
Squash and Stretch
This is the sense and weight and flexability are drawn to objects although the most important thing is the volume of the object does not change when squashed or stretched.
AnticipationIs used to prepare the audience for action and to make it look more realistic this technique can also be used for less physical actions such as a character looking off screen.
Stagingthis purpose is to direct the audience's attention and make it clear to the importance of the scene to what is happening or what is about to happen, also to keep the focus relevent and to avoid unnecessary detail.
Straight ahead action and pose to pose
The straight ahead action means drawing out of a scene frame by frame to the beginning and the end, although pose to pose is involving with the drawing and key frames then later on fill the intervals later.
Follow through overlapping action
Follow through means the seperate parts of the body will be moving after their character has stopped. Over lapping will mean that the tendency is different and the arm could move at a different timing to what the head is going to move at.

Slow in Slow out
This principle means that the character will move inbetween to extreme poses like sitting down or standing up.
Arcs
This exception is the mechanical movement which is typically in straight lines.
Secondary Action
This action can be emphasized rather then the character taking away attention from the main action in the scene.
Timing
Timing is critical for establishing a characters mood, emotion and their reaction, it can also creaste aspects from their personality.

Exageration
Exageration, imitation of reality can look static and dull in cartoons. The level of it depends on whether one seeks realism which is a particular style.
Solid drawing
The animator needs to be a skilled draughtsman and has to understand the basics of three-dimensional shapes, anatomy, weight, balance, light and shadow and more.
Appeal
Appeal in a cartoon character corresponds to what would be called charisma in an an actor.
This is the sense and weight and flexability are drawn to objects although the most important thing is the volume of the object does not change when squashed or stretched.

Creating and Planning an Ident
Ive been researching CBBC's before and now and this is a clip i found that was used from 1994 to 1997. You can see the effects on this video have changed increasingly over the years and that the animations are also a lot more different with more effects to stop motion.
Over the years CBBC have created many little animation indents for their show and they use created effective animation like this one its simple.
History of the CBBC indents
The history of BBC television idents begins in the early 1950s, when the BBC first displayed a logo between programmes to identify its service.
After looking through indents i finally created one of my own and it is with fruit that i have created with plastesince i decided that i can use my creative side to create our own characters for our ident for the media deparmtent.

After doing research on programmes who use idents to help attract audiences we have officially been creating out own for the media department on which will help our media studies look more effcient to the rest of the school. What the group have decided to create is characters on which is Morph and Pingu and a friend who are watching a film on which Morph rudely distracts them. Overall looking on other idents it help us think on the time and the difference we will need to do and to copperate as a group.

Questionnaire opposed to our target audience
Gender: Age:
Female Male 11-16 16-25 24-45 45-50 60+
1) How would you describe this ident?
Great Good Average Not so Good
2) Does this ident represent media?
Yes No
3) Personally do you like this ident?
Yes No Unsure
4) Do you think it could be the ident for Media?
Yes No Maybe
5) Do you think the ident could be better?
Yes No Maybe
6) If you created your own ident what would your storyline be?

__________________________________________________
7) Do you like the characters I have used?
Yes No Unsure
8) What characters would you like to create for your own ident?
___________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________
The questions were given to people in my class so they can review our ident and see if it is up to the standards needed to be really good. The questions relate to my work on what we done as a group so the feedback i would recieve would be fair
Questionnaire Answers
Females - 2
Males -12
Very good - 4
Rubbish - 1
Good - 9
Sountrack ideal -14
Representation well - 14
Do you like this ident? Yes - 14
Could this be an official ident for media? Yes - 8
Could this be the official ident for media? No - 6
Do you like the storyline? Yes - 14
Do you watch a lot of animation? Yes - 9
Do you watch a lot of animation? No -5
Do you like the charatcers? Yes - 14
Can it be improved? Yes - 12
Can it be improved? No - 2
As you can see two females and 12 males were involved in this questionnaire people might think that questionnaire may not be fair or equal but that is how the class is.
A part of the group have said that this ident is actually very good another said it was good but there was also one person who said it was really bad. The whole class have said the representation and the soundtrack suit well with our ident and that gives some proof it is good so thats a 100% positivity. A majority of 8 people said that this ident could be the official media ident and another 6 said it could not. Another full amount of the class have said that they like storyline and also the characters which is giving more of a good impact. 9 people in the class have said they watch animation and another 5 claim they havent. An to complete this 12 people said our ident could be improved and i think if could if we did change a few things but over all im happy with what we created. Over looking the feed back we have recieved we would need to talk about more ideas that we can add onto the ident as it may be different. We could look at more other idents and what storylines that are similar and how we could make it better. I would say that the ident was completed as good but obviously changes could be made. If we were going to change the ident in some ways i would use more colour and maybe more characters and more of a storyline.
My Proposal
My proposal is an Animated Ident this is what we are creating for Park Hall Academy’s Media Studies department. Everyone is in different groups to come up with plenty of new ideas and we all need to edit and produce on our own using the groups finishing products. The ident is going to be used hopefully for the department as everyone will be socialising taking other ideas and working together to produce a well animated ident. To understand what idents mainly focus on we also watched plenty of other idents that programmes or channels had created to promote them which helped us figure out a storyline and the characters for the ident.
The objectives we created in a group on how we would all be able to work well by was that we would all have different parts to work on whilst creating the ident. Jack had decided that he was going to research children’s idents which are used to help promote the children’s channel, Jack done loads of research to help him conclude to some ideas he wanted to use an thought would be perfectly suitable. My job was to watch the idents that had been created over the years and I was effectively looking out for the colours and characters and what conclude to making a good ident. Daniel was also doing the same as me but more focused on what the ident was meaning and how it can attract an audience to the programme. The last objective was for Gary on which he was overlooking idents but starting the project by doing planning and helping set into different roles which would help us be connected on to what the objectives meant.
Going through what we are creating I would be hoping to achieve a great ident for the media department an example on what we are expecting is using: two plasticine penguins and creating our own morph and somehow morph will decide to annoy them. I think the story line we are working on will help us achieve a good grade and would also be used in the media department. If I was going to achieve what I expect I would need to be working exceedingly well in the group and also doing as much participating as I can to help with the planning and the filming and editing.
As we have been working together our characters have been finalised for the shooting in front of the green screen. Jack had created the two penguins on which the detail is quite professional and I decided to create morph, we had finished that and we were happy with how they came out looking in good condition and looked good enough to use for the ident. We have just finished doing the setting in the green screen and moving the characters around to give a story for the ident.
